‘Aaba’ selected for Berlin Film Festival
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: 'Aaba'-
The film is in Apatani language and the entire team of cast was from Ziro with Dani Randa as Aaba, Dani Chunya, Dani Suku, Hage Yami and Dr Joram Khopey.
The film has been written and directed by Amar Kaushik, a long term associate of the national award winning Director Onir. He was also the assistant director of the blockbuster film 'No One Killed Jessica' starring Rani Mukherjee.
Alison Welly, an emerging producer is here again with her unique film ideas, after one of the most popular feature film of the state, 'Itanagar 0 KM' under Space Miracle Studios.

It is worth mentioning here that 'AABA' is the only official selection from India at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. The film will be premiered in the Generation Kplus competition on February 11, 2017.
Founded in 1951, the Berlin International Film Festival, also called Berninale, is one of the world's leading film festivals and most reputable media event. It is held annually in Berlin, Germany.

Speaking on demonetization issue, BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra termed the demonetization as historic decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cleanse the Indian economy. The BJP Spokesperson attacked the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for criticizing demonetisation, saying Rahul should be awarded best money manager in India.
" Rahul should be awarded with best money manager in India, as he withdrew Rs 4500/ from ATM with which he managed to ran his household expenditure and even went to London for holiday with that amount" said Patra.
"Congress party couldn't do anything to check black money in their sixty years of rule, but PM Modi did that just after forming the government" he said.

AVYS rescues old ailing woman
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (AVYS) members led by chairman Ramesh Jeke rescued an old ailing woman abandoned in a small hut below Ita Fort here on Monday.
RKM Hospital Swami Vishwesananda pitched in support by sending an ambulance to fetch her to the hospital, allotted a cabin in female ward besides providing medicines and urgent care. The woman has been identified as Hiba Yaniyang, 63, of Hiba village of Kurung Kumey district.
Reportedly, the woman had been living with his two sons in a rented accommodation near Ita Fort here. She developed sore, spreading foul smell all around. Other tenants complained and the elder son was forced to shift her to an isolated hut where she was left alone.

AAPSU, Ete resolve issue
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: Following the row over an apology letter written, Director Arts and Culture Nyabin Ete, who wrote the letter and All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU), has reportedly resolved the issue amicably.
In a joint statement issued today, AAPSU President Hawa Bagang expressed sadness over the incident and termed it as unfortunate which happened in his absence. Both Ete and AAPSU appealed to the organisations and individual not to interfere in the matter saying that it would unnecessarily aggravate the situation. Joint press statement was issued in presence of Home Minister, Government of Arunachal Pradesh after arriving at mutual understanding, the statement added.
Construction worker escapes death

DAPORIJO, Jan 16: A construction worker is battling for life after he came in contact with live wire from an 11000 volts transformer.
The incident happened 40 meters away from the district hospital. Eye witnesses say that the man got entangled with the wire before he miraculously managed to detangle while working at the site in the wee hours on Monday. He was thrown off the building because of the impact. Currently, he is battling for life at district hospital.
The transformer is less than a metre away from the new constructed building.
Meantime, staffs from power department arrived at the spot.
When asked about the precautionary measures taken to avoid such negligence, the department could not give a straight answer. The department failed to respond when asked if any notice has been served to the owners of the buildings coming up near the transformer.
Such incidents have reportedly occurred during the initial phase of the construction, yet no action had been taken to avoid repeat of similar incidents.
RGU conducts awareness prog. on biodiversity
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: An awareness programme on biodiversity and its status, services and conservation by sustainable management was organized by the Centre with potential for excellence in biodiversity (CPEB), Rajiv Gandhi University for the student of Govt. Secondary School, Wakro in Lohit district recently.
The programme was organized with the aim to create a sense of responsibility among people particularly, younger generation and those living at fringes of protected areas to conserve biodiversity.
Speaking on the occasion as resource person RGU Assistant Professor (Ecology & Wildlife Biology), Dr. Daniel Mize sensitized all on biodiversity and its indispensable services to mankind. He also explicitly explained about, how conservation of biodiversity can boost ecotourism and can improve the rural livelihood standard and can help to preserve and promote our traditional culture and handicraft.
Resource person Talo Biju also spoke about the Birdlife diversity and population status of Arunachal Pradesh. He informed the gathering that Arunachal Pradesh has the second highest bird diversity with 879 species among Indian state but around 43 species of birds are in threatened category. DHS launches door-
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: The District Health Society under Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme on Monday launched a 15 days TB screening programme to find people living with active TB cases in Papum Pare district.
The health team started the programme by conducting testing of the prisoners at District Jail, Jollang.
The first phase of the programme with theme "to reach the unreached" will continue till January 30. It targets to cover 27,303 populations in and around Capital Complex. Apart from the jail inmates, the target areas will be slum areas, orphanages, old age homes, tribal hostels and construction sites, informed District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. PD Thongchi in a release.
Apart from TB screening, the health team will also look for other diseases like diabetes, HIV/AIDS, etc.
The prorgamme was necessitated because of the fact that people avoid going to hospital for check up due to social stigma associated with the disease, the DTO said.
Deputy Commissioner Tai Kaye, who attended launching ceremony, hoped the programme will achieve its sole objective ensuring that nobody is left out for need of health care.
The Superintendent of Prison said that movement of inmates with such health condition to health facilities always remains a challenge due to security reasons. Screening of inmates for such communicable diseases at the doorstep is a welcome step, he said.

and Mission Indradhanush Phase-
The district administration will guide and provide all the logistic support in ensuring successful immunization program, but every individual in the society will have to equally participate for the success of such massive immunization programs launched by government in the true sense, he added.
Awareness pertaining to the dates for the immunization has to be percolated to far flung areas as well, he added and suggested for initiating IEC activities way ahead of the scheduled immunization dates. He directed the i/c Deputy Director, ICDS to issue orders to all the workers by name, designating their immunization centers.
He further directed CO (TPT) to liaise with the departments for vehicle requisition and also appealed for cooperation from HoDS during the vehicle requisition process.
DMO Dr. Tage Kano dealt in length about the history of pulse polio immunization program. He said that although lot of progress has been made in eradicating polio, but risk still remains in terms of complacency, international importation from polio affected countries, gaps in surveillance, detection and response to the polio virus etc.
He also directed the nodal officers for the immunization programs to prepare a work schedule for the district, of the entire exercise right from conducting workshops for the MO in charges to the finalization of reports for onward submission to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

CM allocates portfolios to ministers
ITANAGAR, Jan 16: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday allotted portfolios to newly inducted three Cabinet Ministers here this evening.
Bamang Felix was made new PHED Minister while Alo Libang has been given the Department of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development.
Dr Mahesh Chai has been given the Veterinary, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department. He will also look after Art and Culture Department as Minister in charge.
In a minor, change, Tamiyo Taga will hold additional charges of Power (Electrical) in addition to his already allotted portfolios of Industries, Textiles and Handicrafts. The Department of Cooperation held earlier by Taga will now be held by the Chief Minister.
DIG urged to deploy NDRF team to trace missing person

gone missing since January 7 after he jumped into Kameng river at Pacha Morang, Seppa
in East Kameng to save his own life from attackers' hands, All Pakke-
According to the union, the victim was allegedly attacked by some boys with sharp weapons before he jumped into the river to save his own life.
A case was registered in Seppa Police Station and the alleged attackers were also arrested by police. But the missing person is still untraceable, said the students' union in its complaint letter to the DIG.
APPDSSU also appealed to the DIG to give necessary directive to the district authorities not to entertain any bail plea by the alleged accused until completion of a proper investigation into case. It also appealed for speedy investigation of the case.

Conflict between old and new
The swearing-
Therefore it is natural that BJP workers were rooting for him. Also this incident should alarm the top leaders of saffron party. The mass merger of so many Congress MLAs along with their supporters into party has deeply worried those workers who have been with the party during its most difficult time. If not properly addressed there are every chances of more conflict between 'old and new' ones. Party heavyweight like MoS Home Kiren Rijiju and state unit president Tapir Gao will have to play crucial role to placate the old cadres. These workers most of whom are rooted in the party ideology has been with BJP even when it was in wilderness for years. The next two year will be crucial in this regard. If BJP do not manage to balance between its original worker and new entrant, the party might pay heavy price in 2019 election.

Confusing criteria
Dear Editor,
I know no one can recruit better than service commission and from the last decade you are doing fine job which is highly appreciated. And this is the only hope where a fair and transparent recruitment is done.
The recent advertisement for the post of AAO(Assistant Audit Officer) by our lone service commission is a golden opportunity for every job seeker. But the eligibility criteria and mode of examination is quite confusing and not considerable for the said post.
If we look into the central and other state commission, the syllabus for the post of AAO is related to finance and accounts, economic and governance, auditing etc. And the eligibility criteria is B.Com, M.Com, MBA, ICWAI, ICSI etc which are related to Auditing. So is this the fair process to select and recruit the AAO? The process of recruitment is very different.
If the commission wants to keep the process then it should be open to all, as all unemployed youth deserved to try their best. Otherwise, change the syllabus or eligibility criteria so that right person is selected for the right job.

It is very disdaining to see the scene and arrangement of the local festivals of
Arunachal now. You will find rows of stalls where drinks and deliciously cooked meat
are sold. And you will also witness a row of gambling clubs which is locally termed
as Janda Munda (DICE). The sad part is-
The festivals has thus transformed into a business hub or money spinning show. The

We should never for forget that these different festivals of different tribes make our state more colorful. The traditions must be preserved. There should be more of festival related programs throughout the festive days than only making the final day the day of celebrations. These festivals are the silver linings of Arunachal.
